"Respirational Problems"

The rain forests on Indonesian islands are burning again !!!
And what do the media have to comment about that?

".... citizens are suffering from difficulties in breathing."

• Not one word about the major catastrophe being caused by the further depletion of their already diminished rain forest.
  
• Not even a line about the destruction of bio-diversity (in other words: the killing of rare animals and eradication of plants).
  
• Not a mention of the corruption there, where short-lived profit foregoes the survival of the planet.

Difficulties in breathing are newsworthy, not so the destruction of biotopes that took millions of years in developing.
What makes journalists so myopic to the synopsis; the interconnections?
Maybe they do see it, but the tangle of the agro/timber industry with the government is a taboo that they're not supposed to write about.

The simple fact is, that population pressure is bursting at the seams.

Breathing problems, indeed. They certainly do not have a breeding problem.
