Status Quo

Saving the planet is possible only if we are willing to completely change our attitude towards life as we know it.

Ours is not a time for allocating astronomical sums of money for sports events, to buy the newest gadgets or luxury items or wasting our financial resources for what we like to call "defense".

It is time to re-define the meaning of maintaining or reducing what we like to call "development".

We must learn again, that to keep the status quo is not synonymous with falling back to medieval ages. On the contrary, if we do not stop worshipping growth, we will be back in the stone ages before long.
We must bid farewell to the false notion that "new" is synonymous with "better".

The Club of Rome's reports have long been critizised for being ill-conceived doomsday prophesies. However, the main statement of "The Limits to Growth" is now a more realistic warning than ever before.

It is also time to ask of our indistrial leaders for how long they think they can maintain their industries' annual growth rate.
Based on the depletion of non-renewable resources or the geometric increase of world pollution, it will most likely end sooner than they think.
