Religious Punishment

Most religions know the threat of punishment as a means of forcing their goals.
In some of the old scripts punishment has been invoked as the consequence to deviations from the righteous path. Many of those deviations are considered irrelevant today.
On the other hand, none of the major religions are threatening punishment for the capital crime of taking a fellow creature's life. How could they? History shows that killing is instrumental to the propagation of every conventional religion.

There is no adjustment to changing human morale in any religion. Their inherent rigidity precludes any change to their holy scripts. This is the primary difference between striving to understand the World with the help of science or by following the scriptures of religion: Science will readily admit errors or expand a theory with a new one, if experiments have furnished proof.
Religions pretend to be above all that.
Just believe and you will be saved.
If you find anything wrong with the macho structure of the religious universe,
if you believe it is no longer valid to be fruitful and multiply,
if you find the notion that God made us in His image an insult to God:

- keep it to yourself.
