Reducing Traffic Casualties

Governments in their concern about public uproar on traffic victims have attempted to bring down casualties by gradually reducing the maximum allowed speed for motor vehicles.

In our country, on non-motorway urban streets, we went from unlimited to 80 to 60 to 50 to 30, even to 20 km/h in some pedestrian areas.
The bureaucrats, in their infinite wisdom, have realised that the number of deaths will drop to zero as the speed limit approaches zero.
